He had three whole dollars,, a worn-out car
And a wife who was leaving him for good
Life's made of troubles, worry pain and struggle,
She wrote 'goodbye' in the dust on the hood.
They found a map of Missouri,
lipstick on a glass,
they must have left in the middle of the night
And I want to know the same thing.
Everyone wants to know,
How's it gonna end?
Behind a smoke-coloured curtain,
The girl disappeared.
They found out the ring was a fake.
A tree born crooked
will never grow straight.
She sunk like a hammer into the lake.
A long lost letter and an old leaky boat,
and promises that are never meant to keep.
And I want to know the same thing........
The bar leaned over,
The vulture dried their wings,
the moon rose into an empty sky,
The sun sank down behind the tree on the hill.
There's a killer and he's coming through the rye.
Maybe he's the father of a lost little girl,
It's hard to tell in this light.
And I want to know the same thing......
Drag your wagon and your plow
Over the bones of the dead
Out among the roses and the weeds.
You can never go back,
And the answer is no,
And wishing for it only makes it bleed.
Joel Torna-bene was broken on a wheel,
Shane and Bum Mahoney on the lamb.
The grain was as gold as Sheila's hair
All the way from Liverpool,
With all she could steal.
He was robbed of twenty dollars,
His body found stripped,
Cast into the harbour there and drowned.
And I want to know the same thing......
The sirens are snaking their way up the hill,
It's last call somewhere in the world.
The reptiles blend in
With the colour os the street.
Life is sweet at the edge of a razor.
And down in the first row of an old picture show,
The old man is a asleep, and the credits start rolling.
And I want to know the same thing
We all want to know
How's it gonna end?

Desert Walk

I'm Walking
Walking through the sand.
Yeah I'm walking,
Walking through the sand.
Sun casts a brutal hand down,
nothing stirs, nothing can be found.
Wind blowing hot from the north,
competing with the flies for every drop.
Every drop of moisture,
and the horizon is drawing me closer,
but it always just out of touch
A place so vast that I feel like nothing but dust
Wedgie circles high in the sky,
watching my movements or waiting for the prize.
See the crest of a dune,
A pair of eyes,
Watching me walk by.
I see him every now and then,
But he will come and find me in,
In the cool of the night
When I'm sitting by the fire watching the stars,
And the satellites.
Im Walking
I'm walking through the sand.......
A subsonic thump,
I can feel it in my bones.
It's a big red,
Six foot four,
And full of muscle.
Hops by with such ease.
Gives the impression,
He's just floating
Along on the breeze.
I'm walking
Walking through the sand.....

Will I Am

My name is William
And I'm a god with a blade
Give me thirty seconds
And I'll give you more than a shave.
Strip you back,
tear you down,
Turn you into a fine long gown.
My name is William
And I'm a god with a blade.
My shop sits at the end of the street.
A dead end part of a rundown suburb.
Where the streets are paved with lead,
and an ever present sense of dread.
No-one wanders, no-one seeks,
That dark corner where the sign stipulates,
"Those that enter may never want to leave"
It was an art that I learned whilst living on a farm.
My father would teach me every Tuesday in the barn.
A finer man with a knife,
I have never seen.
The look in his eye,
The angle of his wrist.
My mother and father would always insist.
"Use the light,
take your time,
Make sure to hold the blade nice and tight.
Your name is William,
And your a god with a blade"
My father,
My father,
He no longer exists.
Happened on a Sunday,
Whilst playing in the barn.
My father he entered,
His tattoos transfixed,
I couldn't resist,
Had to insist,
My will be strongest.
Still talk to him every night on the sofa,
I fine three seater made of bone and leather.
And those tattoos,
Those tattoos
Are ever present
on the arms.
My name is William
And Will I Am

Well my heart was bleeding
on the bathroom floor.
See my reflection
Looking back from the door.
I saw a face
That I had not seen,
Looking like the man I shoulda been.
I saw my hands,
Used in countless plans.
Long slim fingers,
With a blood soaked skin.
And now a rage burns through my brain,
at those moments that I failed to gain.
To reach out
And to touch that beautiful silhouette.
Trace that form
And ride that storm.
She had a look
That could capture a soul.
For who could deny those brown eyes of Hathor.
With a smile,
Make your heart race a little while.
But she was no angel,
No dawns first light.
So she walked out into the night
That withering wit
And that mind to delight.
She could wake the dead, and break that torpor.
Indestructible,
No lamb to slaughter

Preacher preacher please come quick
I've got something to admit
Met a man down in the sticks
near Old Miss.
Drove a series 10 Cadillac
And cigar on his lips.
Don't you know the Devil wears
A suit and a tie.
Saw him driving down the 61
In early July.
White as a feather,
Sharp as a knife,
I herd him howling as he passed me by.
He Said
I know you,
I know you young man.
I can tell by the state of your hands.
Your a six string picker,
Mush as I am.
Let me learn you a few tunes,
Make all the girls dance.
Don't you know the Devil wears
A suit and a tie.
Saw him driving down the 61
In early July.
White as a feather,
Sharp as a knife,
I herd him howling as he passed me by.
Foolish, foolish was I,
Damn my foolish eyes.
there was always gonna be a price.
Damn my foolish eyes.
Foolish, foolish was I.
Damn my foolish eyes.
I had to pay such a price.
Damn my foolish eyes.
Damn my foolish,
Foolish pride.

Persuaders

Blazing down the highway
Blazing through that sun.
Engine is churning,
Pushing through the wind,
And they're closing in.
Their eyes are burning red,
For the pleasures ahead.
A cheshire grin and delight for sin.
I opened that door,
Now they're coming,
Coming for it all.
A moment of decent,
A second of regret,
But they had used her for their own
Despicable ends.
Now they're hunting in pairs,
Pulling at the chain.
The man in control suffers the strain,
Revels in your pain.
And bullets may fly,
And faces will peel,
And blood is the colour of their heel.
Sharks are out and they're looking for their feast.
Sharks are out and I know that I'm next for the belly of the beast.
Sharks are out and I know that they'll never cease
Strange memories
On a nervous flight.
And the headlights keep throwing
Their warm yellow light.
I remember stepping out,
Into the night.
And we clung onto each other,
We clung on tight.
In this love there were no degrees,
No taxes or charging of fees.
So when I saw him there
I just did not care.
I ran him down,
Hard into the ground.
It's an eye for an eye
And a soul for a soul
and you know I ain't gonna lose
Any sleep at all.
The sharks are out and I know I'm next for the belly of the beast.
The sharks are out and I know that they'll never cease
Sharks are out and I know I ain't gonna get no peace.
Floating down the highway,
Floating through the rain.
Floating through the night,
Never feeling no pain.
I opened that door.
Now they're coming,
Coming for some more,
Coming for some more,
Coming for some more,

Bell

|

Yeah I'm waiting
Down by the border.
Waiting for the sun to rise
Yeah I'm waiting
For my chance to cross,
Leave this chaos behind.
It was years ago that I left this place,
And I can not remember one single face.
But I can see the river like a snake,
Slinking through the deserts heavy hot shape.
And it brings to me a certain ache,
A thirst that I can not shake.
Ring,
Ring the bell.
Help me break this spell.
I've wrapped myself up in booze warm embrace,
Been a complete and utter disgrace.
Been a thorn under foot and a pain in the arse.
I've shown absolutely no class.
I've toyed withe the enemy,
And I've soaked myself in sin.
But now,
Now I begin.
Cos I'm bored,
Of the blood and the sword.
Bored of it all.
I'm tired of this existence,
and I can't believe I insisted.
How easily I dismissed it.
And the dream that need be fed
Is finally dead,
No more blood need be shed.
Won't you ring,
Ring the bell.
Help me break this spell.
you ring,
Ring the bell.
Help me break this spell.
